Ruby Francis grooves with soulful new track ‘Disconnect’

Drawing on all manner of influences but most notably 90’s R&B, Neo-Soul and Funk, ‘Disconnect’ is a dreamy track and the lead single of Ruby Francis’s debut album ‘Archives’. Boasting a laidback, late night dancing vibe underpinned by an altogether groovy bass line, it is a track that sets up North London based Francis as a truly fresh voice on the scene.

Exploring the theme of constant connection and the need to break away every now and again to take some time, lyrically ‘Disconnect’ is surely a track that many of us are able to relate to. Her songwriting abilities clearly shine through, supported by a distinct vocal tone and strong, rich harmonies that only add to this sense of honesty.

Speaking on her much anticipated debut album Francis explains “Archives the album, is a collection of songs I have produced and written over the years, encountering different phases and experiences I have been through; from overcoming breakups and relationship hurdles, mental health struggles, exploring fantasies and characters as well as just having fun. These were all songs that have been archived. I hope that the listener will relate and create their own meanings and concepts through the journey of the songs.”

Francis is an exciting artist, sure to make a splash with fans of the likes of Mahalia, Sza and Jorja Smith. Do give her debut album a listen to and enjoy the chill soulful sound, preferably alongside a glass of red wine in the evening… trust me, that’s the vibe!
