RUINS deliver glowing new single ‘Burning Library’

Returning off the crest of a wave via their 2025 single, ‘Low Postcards,’ the Liverpool-based duo is back with a chill-indie daydream titled ‘Burning Library’. Falsetto vocal meets gentle drum groove, 80s snare, and carefully crafted synth work. New Order meets TV On The Radio, and it is a mesmerizing follow-up to their previously acclaimed single. Written around loss, grief and mourning, the duo discuss the formation of their latest work:

“‘Burning Library’ borrows its title from a book by one of our favourite writers, Edmund White. The notion is that when someone dies, a library burns, all that information that has been accumulated over a lifetime is lost. At the time of writing the lyrics, I felt surrounded by loss. The song was really cathartic and helped me to process losing people in my life.”

Made up of Lloyd Rock and Nik Kavanagh, the pairing has played alongside China Crisis, A Flock Of Seagulls and Unknown Territories. RUINS continues building a name for themselves, constantly pushing the envelope of its creative process. Make sure they’re on your watch list for 2025.
