S.F. Johnson is back once again with a new single to grace our ears, his latest offering ‘Strangers’. The artist brings together sounds from both past and present to create a unique combination of New Wave, alt-rock and disco that is both glamorous and evocative. Electric guitars, synths, bass and drums all work in harmony to support the idyllic sounds of Johnson’s vocal performance, that takes you by the hand through the journey that the song portrays.
On the new single, Johnson shares, “Strangers is about shaking off the things that get you down, reflecting and acknowledging change. Sometimes the things that once brought happiness, no longer do. To be a stranger in your own game is a weird feeling. I think it’s important to acknowledge this and move on, rather than live in something that no longer allows you to grow.”
After spending most of his 20s as a songwriter under the Leeds-based Goodbye Chanel, later known as Modern Pleasure, Johnson moved to Tokyo in 2018. Through this experience he began to release his first music as a solo artist with his debut EP ‘Songs from an Empty Orchestra. Now moving back to the UK, the artist looks ahead to his debut album Digital Utopia, taking elements from past, present and future and adding introspective and honest takes on everyday life. All this packaged in his signature sound that tells stories of the city, future blues, friendship and coping with change. S.F. Johnson is a really exciting artist that deserves to see more and more recognition for the refreshing sounds he is bringing to the industry.
