Sad Fussball drops first EP ‘Never Paint A Lying Heart’

Sad Fussball just released their EP ‘Never Paint A Lying Heart‘. After exclusively putting out singles from 2023-2025, Sad Fussball takes listeners on a continuous ride with this new release. The five-song project shows off his chill German rock style, mixing mellow vibes with personal stories.

The EP opens with “Willst du’s behalten?” (“Do You Want to Keep It?”), a relaxed but catchy track with smooth guitars, soft keys, and vocals that have a real and raw energy. The lyrics speak of letting go. “The distance from me is very good” and “When you’re with me, I’m less of myself” suggest that the relationship may have been draining or identity-eroding for the speaker.

Things get a bit weird—in a good way—on track four, “Level 2.” It’s an instrumental with playful synths that sound like they belong in an old video game. It breaks things up and adds a fun element to the EP. Never Paint A Lying Heart closes with “Kinder die joggen” (“Children Jogging”), a short, 58-second jam that sends listeners off on an upbeat note. It kind of feels like the title says, children jogging.

Sad Fussball writes about everyday stuff—cars, love, being late—but in a way that feels fresh. Never Paint A Lying Heart is low-key, thoughtful, full of little surprises —and definitely worth a listen.
