Sam Doll’s fierce presence on ‘Your Turn’

Toronto-based singer-songwriter Sam Doll’s new single ‘Your Turn’ is raw, vigorous and pulls no punches. Arriving at her true passion after a unique background working as an A&R for none other than Universal Music Canada, Sam Doll found her true calling to be in the creation of the music itself.

Diving headfirst into life as an artist, she fell in love with crafting her own unique style which she describes as ‘Dark Grunge Pop’ and is masterfully showcased in her latest release: ‘Your Turn’. Driven by a strong sense of dynamic progression, the song builds from verses that are subtle and atmospheric into moments dynamic and empowering, with a chorus that begins with: “you want me so bad well man PICK UP THE PHONE!”, in a powerfully commanding tone.

This same fiery presence is reflected in the accompanying music video, which consists of a single close up shot of Sam Doll’s face, in which she holds the viewer’s gaze throughout the entirety of the clip. Staring down the barrel of the camera, her gaze unshifting, she calls out a former lover for playing games instead of being direct, in a visual display that matches the candid emotion felt behind the lyrics raw tone of the music. A triumphant display of authenticity, ‘Your Turn’ shows Sam Doll as a creator truly in sync with her inner sound and artistic persona.
