Mathieu Tamisier, the artist behind the Sélénite project, uses the platform to break free from the metaphorical cabin he once concealed himself in, giving way to his musical journey. Initially a drummer, Tamisier expanded his musical horizons by picking up the guitar, inspired by Radiohead’s ‘Kid A’ and the blues. The artist has since blossomed, now holding 250 concerts to his name, still taking pride in delivering raw, evocative music with his guitar and his vocals.
After self-producing some releases, Tamisier retreated to a real cabin, revisiting and reimagining his music. The result from is his new album ‘Sandboxes’, a project created in just a single month from a secluded cabin in south-west France. Sélénite creates an enchanting connection between his acoustic guitar and his voice, with the two becoming the foundation of the album, highlighting the emotion and grooves with pianos, drums and bass. The project is intimate, gentle and vulnerable, with the building blocks coming together to expand into a silky smooth, heartfelt, lyrically challenging finished work. Delicate performances will leave you bewitched in the atmosphere, connecting you to the music.
