We sat down with Brighton based band ‘The Stealers’ after the release of their new single ‘Out Of Time’ to find out more about their energetic sound. Find out more below and be sure to follow them on their journey!
Tell us about yourself as a band/artist?
We are The Stealers, a Brighton based Alt Rock band. Since forming in 2019 we have played loads of shows up and down the country, we have also toured the UK to promote our most recent EP. We have supported the likes of Dead Pony, Lovejoy and Will and The People.
What got you into music?
Noah: I got a drum kit for Christmas when I was about 4 and have played the drums ever since. I always used to bash around on it but only started having lessons when I was around 8. I haven’t stopped playing since. I can’t imagine life without the drums.
George: I started to play guitar nearly 10 years ago and struggled to put it down. Through learning all my favourite tunes on the guitar, it helped me discover bands that I still listen to today.
Junior: I got into music through my mum and dad at a really young age.
How would you describe your sound?
George: Our sound is energetic and chaotic with distorted riffs that you will never forget.
Junior: Recently we have been compared to Queens of The Stone Age and Royal Blood.
What is your favourite venue to play?
Noah: I really liked it when we played Chalk because the stage is big, this means we have a lot more room to spread out as a band. The sound is great there too. I really like playing venues like Green Door Store and The Hope and Ruin as well though, they are just little sweat boxes. I love it!
Junior: My fave venue is Green Door Store.
George: Yeah same, my favourite Brighton venue to play is Green Door Store
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Junior: Fred Durst.
Noah: This is such a hard question. If they ever make a comeback, it has to be Rizzle Kicks. I feel like we would make a sick record together haha.
George: I would have to say Damon Albarn and Josh Homme as I think that they are very talented songwriters.
What is your creative process, and do you think it differs from others?
George: We bounce ideas around in the rehearsal room then once we have a basic structure down, I will usually make a demo where I will add extra hooks and harmonies etc to see what the song has to offer.
Noah: I love how we just go into a room and make loads of noise, and then someone will play something that stands out. We end up building a song in like 10 minutes. That’s what it felt like with this song anyway.
What is special about this song/album to you?
George: For this song I really wanted to up the production, so adding extra bits such as synths and builds brings a fresh sound to our catalogue.
Junior: This track is special because it started out as a demo and we didn’t think much of it until George added the guitar parts.
Noah: I have to agree with Junior and George. It’s great to have a fresh sounding track out in the world. I also tried to make the drumming more varied on this track rather than going for the typical rock groove. I think
that’s what makes it special to me.
