‘Sloshed’ Rod draws Scottish Cup

Rod Stewart has had football fans in stitches after a bizarre TV appearance apparently a few scotches to the quick.

The rock legend, 72, was live on Sky Sports for the Scottish Cup draw and seemed to have taken full advantage of the in-match hospitality for Celtic’s game against Albion Rovers.

Donning a typically flamboyant leopard-print scarf, Stewart comically snubbed a handshake from Scottish Football Association president Alan McRae before picking out the Cup’s teams with a series of over-the-top hand movements. Upon Hoopa drawing a match against Inverness Caley Thistle, he let out a groan of apprehension.

The superstar is known for a fondness for a tipple; during his time with Faces in the 1970s the band famously toured with a working bar installed on the stage.

Stewart was recently announced as the second headliner at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival. In a statement, he said: “I have been very lucky to have played many of the world’s finest venues and festivals – but never played the legendary IOW Festival. I am so excited to put that right. June can’t come round soon enough.”
