Solar Strides return with new indie-hit single ‘Goodbye Again’

Indie-rock four-piece Solar Strides have released their irresistible new single ‘Goodbye Again’. With soaring vocals, earworm melodies and relatable lyrics, this song is effortlessly uplifting. The track is flooded with driving rhythms and shimmering guitar riffs to create a nostalgic indie sound, offering Courteeners-esque verses and an anthemic chorus. It’s easy to hear why ‘Goodbye Again’ is a fan favourite from Solar Strides’ kinetic live sets.

Speaking of their new release, the band explains: This was one of those rare but exciting moments where the song seemingly writes itself, almost as if it’s been patiently waiting for you to open the door. It started as some random guitar noodling that became the main riff. The song then really built itself in my head and the lyrics are an instinctive response to this imagery. I suppose it would be difficult to deny the influence of the global situation on themes of craving a break from the mundane or struggles to sustain new relationships, but these ideas revealed themselves without any intention of actually writing a song at all. We were lucky enough to work with recording/mixing engineer, Luke Oldfield (Metronomy, Wolf Alice, The Wytches), who implemented old school analogue tape to capture the thunderous drum sound, and mastering engineer, Noel Summerville (The Clash, Elvis Costello), who mastered The White Stripes’ seminal album, Elephant, including its anthemic opening track, Seven Nation Army.”

Since their conception in summer 2019, Solar Strides have been making a name for themselves on the live scene, conquering venues such as The Beehive, Phoenix Bar and Werkhaus. They’ve since turned to virtual performances during the pandemic, taking part in a show organised by Hot Vox which raised over £1000 for grassroots music. Their new single ‘Goodbye Again’ further strengthens their already impressive catalogue of recorded music, and we can’t wait to hear more. The future looks bright for this upcoming band.
