New Zealand has made another gem of an artist, and he goes by the name of Finnegan Tui. Bursting onto the scene with his debut single ‘Once I’m Gone’ in June, Finnegan creates dark and electronic folk music that is simply breathtaking from start to finish. He has created an atmosphere unique to him, and a presence which is undeniably haunting and captivating.
Sticking to close his acoustic, folk roots as well, Tui has certainly continued to guide us through his sound with his second single ‘More’. It starts off with his signature acoustic guitar and individual sounding vocal setting the scene, with a rising dramatic synth building in the background. The electronic elements then enter the fore, and are beyond words in terms of the way they transcend the feeling and direction of the track. This is Finnegan’s modern and enhanced folk entwined sound, and it’s here to say. With an album on the horizon, we’re sure that it’s going to turn more than just a few heads.
