STR^NGE releases red-hot new single ‘Crying Shame’

Supported by Earmilk and Psycheldic Baby Magazine, STR^NGE has fashioned a glittering reputation for crafting throwback white heat indie cult anthems. ‘Crying Shame’ is a glowing left turn, embracing more classic elements, including unified string and horn lines and soulful melodies. Influenced by his Liverpoolian roots, STR^NGE’s latest offering is indie perfection with compelling songwriting taken from the heart of 70s alt culture.

Speaking about the single:

“Crying Shame is about my time in university where I became addicted to drugs. I felt terribly down and filled my days with heroin, ketamine and benzodiazepines, and it’s a wonder that I was able to write this song at all; and each line is rooted in reality.

I knew that the track had to have contrast, so punctuating those lyrics with a waltzing time signature felt like the most natural thing to do. I didn’t want to lose the emotional effect of the song through the contrast however, so adding that sweeping string section really keeps the vibe of the tune grounded and doesn’t let it give way to the ridiculous.”

Founded by Chrissy, the former drummer of The Mysterines, James, David, and Leon, the foursome has played Future Now Festival and opened for Demob Happy at the Arts Club Liverpool.

We can’t wait to hear what the band have coming later this year.
