‘Suitable’ is the latest release from Italy-based singer songwriter Her Skin. With delicate and light-hearted melodies, listening to this song is a treat and transports us into calmer version of life. Writing the song with her dad, this track has a clear and evident emotional value which can be heard through the sweet and soft lyrics.
“‘Suitable’ is a love song. I wrote it as a reminder that love should be something natural and spontaneous and not something that you can force. I just wanted to write a song that described this idea of love as something romantic, that transcends all distances, something that’s not really under your control.” SARA AMMENDOLIA
Her skin excellently portrays that feeling of being empty and without a cause throughout the beginning half of the song. The lyrical content then changes the direction of the track with the protagonist seemingly finding someone who fits and is ‘suitable’. However, due to the unchanging backing we could give these word choices a more negative and monotone spin – suitable referring to being mediocre rather than positive. This narrative adds layers upon layers to what was maybe perceived as a face value song.
