South African born Tanya Sholto-Douglas (known as t.e.d), has been singing and writing songs all her life. Now, aged 24, she’s quickly becoming a rising star, with her music receiving tens of thousands of streams and being lauded by fans and critics alike. t.e.d made her debut with EP “halfpace” – a three track E.P that showcased her signature sound. She quickly gained online traction from this.
Capitalising on her fantastic successes, she’s back with a new heartwarming single “Let Me Be.” The track features a colourful melting pot of warm piano lines, understated string parts and angelic backing vocals. Her vocals comes softly penned and land perfectly on top, working well with emotionally-penned lyrics.
Speaking about the track, she says: “‘Let Me Be’ follows the process of realising someone isn’t good for you, and the eventual demise in a relationship begging to end. It represents a moment when I realised someone had created a toxic space for me, and the process of having to fight my way out before we could both let go. ‘Let Me Be’ is inspired by the human ability to change, and the battle we wage within ourselves to change things for the better.”
With some exciting projects coming up, t.e.d is sure to make 2023 her year, and she’s an artist to keep on your radar.
