Talented Trio Glowtrees unleash their new alt rock EP ‘Something to Say’

OUT NOW | Listen Here

Glowtrees‘ new 4-track EP, ‘Something to Say‘, is a high-energy homage to 90’s and 00’s alternative rock, designed to uplift and inspire with its positive message. Leanne’s lyrics explore the pressures of modern society, drawing from personal and societal experiences. The band’s writing process is organic and swift: Paul crafts the music, Leanne adds spontaneous melodies and lyrics on the first listen, and together with Alan, they refine and record the final tracks. Recorded live at their home studio, affectionately called the Doood, the EP captures the raw and authentic essence of their sound. Paul mixed and mastered the tracks, with Leanne providing the artwork and Paul designing the logo. The lead track, ‘One More Night’, is an emotional narrative about cherishing a final night with a lost loved one, currently being transformed into a music video. This EP is a true reflection of Glowtrees’ creative synergy and dedication to spreading a positive message through their music.

Glowtrees, a female-fronted power trio formed in early 2022 in Birmingham, emerged from the creative reconnection of Leanne and Paul during lockdown. The duo, who previously collaborated with Leanne’s first band Twist, sought to create music reminiscent of the bands they grew up with. Leanne, having played bass guitar and drums in various bands, wanted to step up to the mic to showcase her vocal skills and songwriting prowess. Paul, transitioning from producing electronic music, picked up his guitar to make some real noise again. With serendipity on their side, Leanne’s former Shana Tova collaborator, Alan, joined on drums, and Glowtrees was born. The band quickly got to work at Robannas studio, and within months, they had over 30 songs and started performing live. Fans immediately recognized their talent, hailing them as “an incredible new band” and “definitely one to watch.” Drawing influences from alt-rock, grunge, indie, math pop, and psychedelic rock, Glowtrees’ unique sound is life-affirming, noisy, and at times decadent, with interludes of layered, melodic introspection. Leanne’s lyrics convey messages of strength, hope, and inclusivity, addressing topics such as mental health, social media, LGBTQ+ issues, bullying, relationships, and spirituality. Her cool yet soaring vocals and driving bass lines, combined with Paul’s whirling atmospheric and punky down-tuned guitars and Alan’s stamina-defying drum wizardry, create a powerful, captivating musical experience. Glowtrees plan to embark on a thorough online campaign and content creation mission, aiming to establish themselves as a positive force in the new post-lockdown era of musical expression. With more gigs on the horizon and their debut EP set to release in August, Glowtrees are determined to make their mark.
