The Bank Street Martyrs’ Heartfelt Tribute to their Scottish Roots

The debut album by Scottish melancholic rockers, the Bank Street Martyrs, is a moving homage to their beloved Leven region.

‘Leven the Vale’ bears a recurrent theme of homecoming, making numerous local references throughout all of its self-proclaimed ‘rhythm and blue collar’ tracks.

The band’s lead single uses the same name as the album, originating as a poem written by founder and lyricist Ian Morris Retson, whilst celebrating his 60th birthday. His personal reflection on the track reference him ‘reflecting as an older man, back to where it all started’.

With vivid references to the 1960’s and ’70’s, the album evokes a feeling of nostalgia from start to finish, whilst being complimented by contemporary production values, which overall provides an enriched listening experience, offering a flavour of the Scottish riverside to listeners near and far.
