The Basement Party Make Waves with Debut Full-Length High Tide Era

Chicago’s own surf skate punk trio The Basement Party have officially cranked the volume and kicked open the doors with their debut album High Tide Era; seven tracks, thirty-two minutes, and zero moments of letting up.

The record feels like a sweaty house show in the middle of summer, where skateboards lean against the walls and the floor shakes under the stomp of every kick drum. From the blistering opener and lead single “High Tide Era” to the anthemic closer “Sunset Sunday”, the band delivers a ride that’s equal parts chaos and control.

Tracks like “Beach Bum” get a little darker and grittier without losing the band’s trademark adrenaline, while “Wave Ripper” slows the pace just enough to let a laid-back, Red Hot Chili Peppers–style groove roll in. “S.O.S.” kicks the speed back into high gear with pure 90s punk energy, and “Riptide” channels classic surf rock while keeping its modern bite. Experimental cut “27” proves they’re not afraid to push their own boundaries before “Sunset Sunday” ties the whole thing together with a soaring, send-it-off finale.

Formed in 2023 by Jámir Nelson Tolivér (vocals, guitar), Danny Delany (bass), and Vu Tran (drums), The Basement Party blend fast-paced skate punk with reverb-drenched surf rock, pulling influence from JFA, Suicidal Tendencies, Dick Dale, and The Surfaris. Known across Illinois and the Midwest for their high-energy shows, they’ve built a sound that’s raw, catchy, and tailor-made for sweaty mosh pits and summer drives.
