The Bop Live takes on new heights in much needed music festival for Croydon

In an area which may have needed some live and vision injected into it, SDS Entertainment, who work with the likes of Wozzy Brewster OB, wanted to bring some music oriented event to Croydon. The Bop Live was then born, and after first setting up in a virtual setting in 2020, the festival took to the live stage on February 5th to huge acclaim.

The festival promoted and staged a plethora of artists, ranging from hip-hop, rap, pop and everything in between. It was a hugely successful first attempt and it will surely be returning annually going forward.

Founder of SDS, Makeda Bennett-Amparbeng witnessed the lack of funding and art that the area of Croydon has, and wanted to quickly act and rectify this. She said that:

“Croydon is often looked down on and given a bad name, you rarely hear positive things associated with it. Being from Croydon, myself and the SDS team know different and that’s why we are changing that narrative.

We’ve not only seen first hand the plethora of local talented creatives here but also a great number of up and coming creatives simply looking for local events and initiatives to help with their professional development. The Bop Live was created to shine a light on these creatives and the borough, whilst also inviting other creatives from other areas to see what we the Croydoners are offering.”
