The Cliffords unveils contemplative debut EP ‘Strawberry Scented’

Irish quintet The Cliffords has already enjoyed national success. Performances in Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Cork have cemented them as a band on the rise, showcasing a sound that romanticises the feeling of heartbreak, treating it like a cathartic opportunity for joy. Further support from Spotify editorials Hot New Bands, Shockwave, and A Breath of Fresh Eire all feed into the excitement around The Cliffords.

The five-piece has now unveiled their anticipated debut EP ‘Strawberry Scented’, a five-track project laced with reflection and energy. Featuring 2024’s singles so far, ‘Sleeping With Ghosts’, ‘If The Shoe Fits’ and recent press acclaimed track ‘Feels Like A Man’, the EP introduces audiences to two fresh compositions ‘Second Skin’ and ‘Shattered Glass’. Opening and closing the project respectively, ‘Second Skin’ starts with a pained fragility, slowly building from soft electric guitar melodies into a passionate outpour by the end of the track, a perfect introduction to the band for first-time listeners. The final number, ‘Shattered Glass’ is a fond farewell, an intricately crafted alternative expression of grief, sending audiences away with a sense of poignance.

Reflecting on the project, The Cliffords share, “‘Strawberry Scented’ is the soundtrack to our shared experience as vibrant, maturing, and unapologetically Irish youth. We wrote these songs to capture the complexities of love, heartbreak, and the self-reflective nature of our generation. What started as a bit of fun became a familial bond between musicians devoted to writing songs that we adore, even if they are a bit sad sometimes.”
