The live version of ‘Hands’ by Jake Morley is truly uplifting and beautiful

17 years ago, Jake Morley’s father Colin was killed in the 7/7 London bombings.

Jake was reluctant to talk about it publicly for a long time but his third album ‘Some Things Are Like Other Things’ finally addresses some of the mental health issues raised by the trauma.

By confronting his helplessness and the concept of change in all its forms, he has ultimately found positive ways to move forward.

One of the tracks from the third album is ‘Hands’ and Jake Morley recently recorded a live version of this song, which also features John Parker and Patsy Reid.

There is something delightfully mellow about the live version of ‘Hands’, thanks to the choice of instruments.

The uplifting vocals help make this performance truly beautiful.

In the 10 years since releasing his acclaimed debut album, ‘Many Fish to Fry’, much has changed for Jake: he’s toured internationally, been played on national radio on three continents, got married, had a child, and moved from London to Bristol.

Along the way, he’s swapped late night songs with Michael Kiwanuka, broken Jack Garratt’s amp, and had an incident in Ed Sheeran’s bathroom.

He’s also formed Co-Music, the UK’s largest group of co-working independent musicians.
