The Mesos Trio releases Their Debut-Self Titled EP

A new collaboration with violinist Susie Bishop, Indian Tablas player Maharshi Raval and double bassist artist Elsen Price come together as the ‘Mesos Trio’ to release their debut- self titled EP dropped 19th of July 2025.

Recorded on the 15th of June 2025 at Point Blank Studio in Drummoyne, Sydney Australia, these 3 musicians met for the first time to record these tunes on the day. Established in their own right, each of the musicians in the Mesos Trio have led individual careers for over 20 years, performing with some of the world’s leading Folk, Jazz, Classical, Indian classical and experimental musicians within that time. Maharshi and Elsen had performed a number of times as a duo with double bass and tablas, and were looking to record an album, though as the date got closer, it was decided to ask Susie to join.

The album is a real exploration of modern folk music, where seasoned professional musicians meet for the first time and explore new music in real time. Tracks in the album such as ‘Mountain Wind, Mountain Rock’ is a fully improvised piece which was set up by a groove played by Maharshi on Indian tablas, which was beautifully recorded in one take, with each musician trusting their ears and instinct above any attempts to try and ‘control’ what they played. ‘Ashokan Farewell’ was introduced by Susie, a stunning tune which is commonly played amongst folk musicians, which ended with an exploration of sounds.
