The Pedals hail from Hertfordshire, rising through the ranks of Indie-rock since their debut last year. With an anthemic sound and a presence on the local stages, their reputation is building, and that makes them a promising one to watch.
‘Hold Me’ is their new single, capturing the visceral sense of liveness that all great bands do, pulling back and forth with tension and release. A wail of distortion, pounding percussion and shining indie vocals. Shifting gears into the verses, the band strips back and lets the emotions carry, before erupting into a boisterous, driving chorus.
Raw garage energy alongside a thoughtfulness and vulnerability of lyrics, it’s every that makes a fresh indie band exciting. A tangible sense of urgency as they grapple with vulnerability, conflict and connection with no time to stop and get out of the spiral, even the production feels on the edge of losing control. All that, and it still balances chaos with clarity.
The band adds, “‘Hold Me’ came together pretty quickly — we were playing around with the main riff as a band in a bedroom and it just clicked. Lyrically it’s about wanting someone to stay, even when you’re not exactly making it easy for them.
We didn’t overthink it — it’s raw and urgent, and we wanted it to feel like it was barely holding itself together, which felt right for the title.”
‘Hold Me’ is out now!
