The Silver Lines release brutal new single ‘Watch Yourself Boy’

Marching toward their second EP …And The Lord Don’t Think I Can Handle It, The Silver Lines are bringing more of the high-energy grit that has seen them supported by national radio, respected music press and Spotify editorials. They’ve played huge stages such as France’s Trans Musicales, New York’s New Colossus Festival and a slew of UK festivals.

Their latest single, ‘Watch Yourself Boy’ starts with biting riffs, the tension building from the first moment. This sense of intensity is never quite diluted, the constant, high-octane drums making their presence noise, powering the rest of the instrumentation.

The vocal production gives it a protesting, combative energy, also helping to fuel the anarchic riffs of screaming guitars. By repeating the same line over, the band doubles down on the brutality, the simplicity of riotous punk-edged sounds making for a frenzied but attention-grabbing sound.

Diving into the track, The Silver Lines share, “Watch Yourself Boy is a clever take on the ‘Rock N Roll lifestyle’. We all say we would love to live like rock stars but do we really mean it? Lyrically it’s narrated in a way of ambiguity for interpretation. Musically it’s driven, unrelenting and very heavy. It’s an echo to the previous single Cocaine.

Based around four notes, the key is in its simplicity and use of light and shade to gain it’s effectiveness.  In contrast to the previous period of The Silver Lines, this era of the band is focusing a lot more on what works with a live performance and how simple the song can be whilst being effective. Picasso once said “it took me till 12 years old to paint like Monet but a lifetime to paint like a child”, maybe The Silver Lines will translate this into the music world or maybe they’ll get caught up in the rock n roll lifestyle.”
