The Stanford Family Band unveil cheery debut EP ‘For Your Listening Pleasure’

Known for their charmingly vintage sound, The Stanford Family Band is made up of four Brighton newcomers, fronted by multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and songwriter Elliot Stanford. Drawing inspiration from The Beach Boys and The Modern Lovers and lacing their old-fashioned ambience with a modern flair, they’ve already seen both radio and publication support.

The band’s latest release is debut EP ‘For Your Listening Pleasure’, a six-track project that showcases the full extent of the rich nostalgia they’ve teased with initial singles. Building in bright instrumentation filled with lightly overdriven guitars, clear bass grooves, driven drum rhythms and piano accompaniment, the band then come together for warming four-part vocals harmonies, adding the cherry to their sweet timelessness. Alongside all of the clear musicianship on show, the band manage to lace a bit of fun into each track, easily putting a smile on your face.

Elliot Stanford explains the EP, “When we were first signing with Goo Records, we really had no idea what we would release or how it would end up looking. We have a lot of songs, old and new, some of which have been floating around for many years. In the end, we just really wanted to put out a body of work that really encapsulates everything we are about! We love big dramatic songs and arrangements but at the same time, a little cheeky country/garage rock beat has always tickled us so we just really wanted to capture everything that we love in one concise record. It’s been an absolute pleasure to work on this with our friend Harry Hayes (Producer) and we are mega proud of how it all came together!”
