Mark (Glasgow, guitar) and Charlotte (Paris, vocals) are the beating heart of this transcontinental duo, channeling their frustrations into a sound that’s as live and unpolished as it gets. “We were inspired by the constant need to just be on top of things,” they confess. “Life keeps throwing rules at you, work, commitments, finances, and sometimes you’ve got to bend them, if not break them entirely, just to survive.” Charlotte’s endless rants about needing a “dodge” sparked laughter, camaraderie, and eventually, this track, a tongue-in-cheek rebellion with a pulsing beat.
Rooted in the raw edges of alternative music, Everybody Needs A Dodge is a sonic escape hatch. Recorded in Glasgow with Charlotte’s vocals laid down in Paris, it’s a testament to keeping things real, minimal layers, no overkill, just the gritty essence of a live performance. “We both fear overkill,” they admit, opting instead for a sound that grooves hard and leaves room for the listener to breathe, move, and maybe even find their own dodge.
