thea wang unveils heartbreaking ballad ‘While He Is Still Asleep’

Singer-songwriter thea wang’s latest single is a melancholic ballad about an eroding relationship. ‘While He Is Still Asleep’ takes acoustic guitars and soft, calming vocals to tell an intense story about love and heartbreak. Featuring producer Andrew Keller’s minimalistic instrumentation, the song allows thea’s voice to lead the way as she looks to create more dreamlike songs for her debut album.

“While He Is Still Asleep is a short glimpse into your neighbours apartment. It’s a melancholic song about heartbreak, love, and the timeless early signs of erosion in/of a relationship.” Says the Norwegian singer, who debuted earlier this year with ‘Tell Me About It’. “I had just bought a guitar, tried to learn how to play, and out of that this song appeared. I saw this story and couple clearly in my mind, and for some years I thought I had made it all up.”

Taking inspiration from strong female vocals like Joni Mitchell and Regina Spektor, ‘While He Is Still Asleep’ is ready to be the singer’s latest folk-pop hit.
