New Orleans-born, Brooklyn-based up and coming artist THISMINORITY is an artist with a wide range of influences across genres, using hip-hop as a basis to take elements from various other styles. His creative journey started with poetry and dance, progressing he aged into music and settling in on rap. Exploring his sound in the studio, and inspired by those around him, he expanded his creative vision into video, earning him a spot as part of the Hip-Hop film festival in Harlem.
His latest release, ‘Let Me Have This’ brings the listener into a transcendent soundscape, the beat curtesy of producer Freshisui, with celestial synths surrounding the punchy, upbeat drums and optimistic vocal performance. The artist switches up his flow between laid-back sections, confidently riding the beat, and faster sections that showcase his rap expertise. THISMINORITY’s performance keeps the audience engaged throughout.
On the new release, he shares, “What inspired this track was me getting some me time. Time to myself to create music, do some self-building, or just relaxing by own terms. My wife had left and I was listening to the beat Freshisui sent then it started to some to me. ‘Let Me Have This.’ Most of us just need some space but sometimes feel obligated to let people into our space. Some people feel like you owe them your space. This track to claim you space and let them know if they do come, come in peace. No drama only good vibes. Don’t unload your bad day on me, just give me good vibes. Come in peace in this moment where I’m just trying to find peace.
Take time to yourself, you deserve it and give distance to those who don’t respect it or don’t come in peace. Catch up with them later. Put time aside for yourself.”
