Boston artist Token is back with yet another thought-provoking new song and video in the shape of ‘One Like Equals’.
Massachusetts-based rapper Token earned his stripes at a young age, writing his first songs at the age of ten and building an audience through his YouTube page where, at only 17, one of his songs went viral and earned him widespread recognition.
This latest cut sees Token diving into the issues surrounding social media obsession with visuals that spotlight on a girl obsessed with her Instagram account as it gives her bits and pieces of the validation she desperately longs for.
“I’ve seen so many girls that I grew up with turn to social media for acceptance and attention” he says of the video. “It’s like, when you have insecurity problems or something traumatic happens in life, these ‘likes’ on social media turn into an emotional crutch; the more you get, the more loved you think you are.”
