Two rare and unreleased David Bowie albums announced

The previously unheard albums will be released on Record Store Day.

Parlophone will be releasing the two albums on 22 April, which is the 10-year anniversary of Record Store Day. One of the albums, Cracked Actor (Live in Los Angeles 1974), is a live album that was recorded during the Philly Dogs Tour featuring Luther Vandross on backing vocals. The album was never released, but after the 16 tracks were brought together, Tony Visconti mixed the trackswto have them ready for release.

Recorded live at Universal Amphitheatre, Los Angeles on 5th September 1974. Produced by David Bowie. Mixed in by Tony Visconti at Human Studios, NYC in October/November 2016.

The other album, Bowpromo, is a promo album which was made in 1971 to be sent to journalists. Reportedly there were only 500 of these promos pressed. The album features alternate versions of songs from ‘Hunky Dory‘.
