Based on the Orwell classic, Vaughty and Cherry Ballard have collaborated to create something special. The 1.18 minute intro is a statement of intent from the beginning, with a voiceover talking ominously describing how the ‘1984’ fiction could indeed become a reality, where we would live under the control of a strict authoritarian regime and state.
The duo’s harmonies work well together as they sing in an almost chant-like style. They mention Palestine, which is obviously one of today’s most prominent wars. It’s refreshing to hear artists take a stand in their music. The chorus is satisfying yet tense, which is no easy thing to achieve.
