Wiley releases last album ever ‘The Godfather’

Wiley has released his final album ‘The Godfather’.

The long-awaited album dropped yesterday after it was initially cancelled because Wiley felt it was “pointless”.

The 17-track album features guest spots from some of grime’s biggest and most influential players, including Jme and Septa, as well as respected veterans like Lethal Bizzle and P Money. ‘The Godfather’ will be his 11th proper studio album, and will mark his exit from the genre.

In an interview with NME, Wiley said of his retirement: “It will be hard for me to stop making music. But it won’t be hard for me to sit at home and watch all these sick kids take grime to where I couldn’t take it.”
Wiley, who has been dubbed “The Godfather of Grime”, has threatened to retire twice before but insists that this latest release will be his last. The artist says he plans to continue working in the scene via his label Chasing the Art.

Earlier this week Wiley announced a show at London’s Boiler Room, but cancelled it six hours later.
