Earlier this year, WinWel had an opportunity not many artists get to experience, being enlisted to officially remix his childhood idol Flux Pavilion’s track “Endless Fantasy.” This was just one of many impressive milestones in the Dutch artist’s impressive trajectory over the past years. Carefully crafting a unique combination of organic and electronic sounds, WinWel has amassed 4+ million global streams, while receiving support from some of the scene’s most established publications, and releasing on labels such as Circus Records and Seeking Blue’s imprint Found/Red.
Now, WinWel has returned with his brand new single, “Sometimes It Just Feels Good To Be Sad,” and we truly can’t get enough of it. The musician uses a wide array of musical instruments to add life to his productions, and “Sometimes It Just Feels Good To Be Sad” is a perfect example of his dreamy and impactful style, while also seeing him sing on one of his songs for the very first time. The song also holds a very special meaning to WinWel, as he reveals.
“I wrote this song because I found myself feeling nostalgic and melancholic quite often, longing for sadness. And I realized that it can actually feel good to be sad, and that it’s more than okay to be. So I pictured myself, in the city where I grew up, sitting alone in the rain while listening to sad music with a smile. With that picture in mind, I wrote this song.”
