X Factor contestant will represent UK at the Eurovision Song Contest

The 2013 X Factor contestant, Lucie Jones, has been chosen to represent the UK at this years Eurovision Song Contest.

The singer was previously in season six of the X Factor. She came eighth after she was knocked out by Jedward, who have also performed at the contest in 2011 and 2012, representing Ireland. She was picked by winning the public vote on the BBC Two show ‘Eurovision: You Decide’.

All six of the hopefuls performing were former X Factor contestants, including fellow X Factor season six contestant Danyl Johnson.

Jones will be singing ‘Never Give Up On You’ which was written by the 2013 Eurovision contestant Emmelie de Forest.

The UK has not won the contest since 1997 when Katrina and the Waves won with song ‘Love Shine A Light’.
