Young Jimmy unveils brutalising hood-rock diss ‘Heavy.’

Growing up in The Bronx, Young Jimmy was inspired to blend the hip-hop that surrounded him and the raw emotion of rock music as early as six years old. The stepson of hip-hop legend Grandmaster Mele Mel the artist has already performed alongside Kendrick Lamar, Freddie Gibbs and Saul Williams, but is now making his mark as a solo artist not to be messed with.

Truly calling for praise like never before, Young Jimmy seeks to take hood rock to new heights with ‘Heavy.’. The track transforms elements of The Beatles’ all-time great ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)’ into a fierce diss track, a direct call out to multiple industry hitters. The riffs’ psychedelic nature now has a dark new undertone, the drums providing an endless atmosphere, the vocals steadily building up to a roaring distorted mix of guitar riffs and crying female vocals.

It’s a colossal movement, captivating the listener with ease, but the limited edition vinyl pressing will contain another explosive section, one in which Young Jimmy truly lets rips, lighting a fire that surrounds him as all is overtaken by fury.

Young Jimmy explains in his own words, “The record is a diss track against my enemies, haters and music industry professionals who I have personal beef with. Inspired by classic rock music, I’ve been working on the song since 2020 making this the last song of the ‘Rockett 88’ recordings.

I met Kam Franklin in the summer of 2023 and recorded her vocals soon after in Maine before finishing the track at The Cutting Room in NYC. The song is a brutal evil track directed at my opps. With twirling organs, roaring guitars, disrespectful war-like lyrics, and haunting vocals soaring over everything.”
