American Idol contestant says awkward kiss from Katy Perry was “uncomfortable”

A male contestant on American Idol has spoken out after his kiss with Katy Perry left him feeling “a tad bit uncomfortable”.

The 19-year-old singer,  Benjamin Glaze, appeared on the shows premiere this week where he told the judges that he had never kissed a girl. . “I’ve never been in a relationship and I can’t kiss a girl without being in a relationship,” Glaze explained, telling the judges he wanted it to be special.

Perry summoned Glaze over and encouraged him to kiss her on the cheek. She made him do it twice as the first time didn’t make the “smooch sound” and on the second time turned her head to steal a kiss on the lips. Watch the clip below.

Following the unwanted kiss episode airing, the singer took to Twitter to post a gif of Minnie Mouse kissing Mickey Mouse with: “#BenjaminGlaze #AmericanIdol“. See below.

In the wake of her tweet many Twitter users commented that the post was a bit insensitive stating “It was a forced sexual act. Imagine if this was from a male judge. Has @katyperry not taken anything from the #metoo movement?”.

Glaze has also spoken to The New York Times explaining: “I was a tad bit uncomfortable. I wanted to save it for my first relationship. I wanted it to be special.

Would I have done it if she said, ‘Would you kiss me?’ No, I would have said no. I know a lot of guys would be like, ‘Heck yeah!’ But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special.
