Avril Lavigne responds to conspiracy theory that she died in 2003

Avril Lavigne has finally responded to the conspiracy theory that she died and was replaced by a clone in 2003.

The long-running theory was started by a Brazillian Avril Lavigne fan page that compiled “evidence” that the ‘Sk8er-Boi’ singer died in 2003 and was replaced by a clone called Melissa.

The rumours claim that the following her debut album, Lavigne couldn’t cope with the pressures of being a celebrity and began using a body double, who allegedly took her place when she passed away in 2003.

Now, a decade since they began circulating, the rocker has denounced back at the theories during a chat with the Australian radio station, KIIS 106.5.

When asked about the bizarre rumours, Lavigne said: “Yeah some people think that I’m not the real me which is so weird! Like why would they even think that?”

Avril Lavigne is currently making her musical comeback, following a four-year break after she was left bed-ridden with Lyme’s disease during a tour in 2014.
