Beyonce helped the Country Music Awards celebrate it’s 50th anniversary with a surprise appearance last night.
Hitting the stage unintroduced, she was joined by The Dixie Chicks to perform ‘Daddy Lessons’ from her most recent album ‘Lemonade’. The Dixie Chicks started covering the song on tour earlier this year but with Beyonce in tow, the performance brought the house down and received a standing ovation.
While some of the ceremony’s guests were thrilled with the appearance (Cassadee Pope tweeted “I’m gunna explode”), not everyone was quite as excited. One critic wrote “Let me have my country music in peace” and another said “I was going to watch, but not now”. Ouch.
