Yesterday, NASA’s InSight Mars Lander touched down on its destination.
However, the lander’s entrance to Mars was accompanied by an unexpected addition – an insignia from punk-rockers, Green Day.
Following the lander’s arrival on the planet, a tweet from the band confirmed that they were, in some way, connected to the mission.

The band announced: “Officially landed on Mars. ‘Green Day Since 1986’ was etched on a chip on the @NASAInSight Mars Lander that landed at Elysium Planitia today. Out of this world.”
Green Day haven’t been particularly active during 2018, with their last show in Mexico City taking place in November of 2017.
