It’s rare to find a Renaissance artist in this day and age, but San Francisco musician, activist, gardener and photographer Jay Burn is just that. Burn’s released a new album, Burnt Blue, this June, and although it is only 4 tracks long it is clearly a hit.
Down to earth and poetic, Burnt Blue features well known guest artists such as Jay Lane of Primus, Jason Crosby and Robin Sylvester. Burn’s voice is mellow, a nice contrast to the cheerful and bright featured accompaniment.
“I am a musician who comes from a line of musical creators. I make the music I hear and feel, from my life moments an experiences…,” says Burn, “Sometimes when I need to heal, other times to express moments of joy or to reflect… To me, music is the universal language that can offer amazing power for change, today usually under estimated.”
If you love The Grateful Dead, Neil Young or even Johnny Cash then you’re going to love Burn’s sound; it is akin to that of Hard Working Americans, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Leon Russell, and the aforementioned artists.
