Jack White and Nas have teamed up to cover 1920s blues track

The cover was taken from the forthcoming documentary American Epic.

Jack White and Nas performed ‘On The Road Again‘ by Memphis Jug Band for the documentary series which will be released on 16th May. The soundtrack will be released 12th May. The three-part documentary looks at the recording process in the 1920s which saw recording companies travelling through America with the first electrical recording rig to find new artists to record.

Despite the original equipment not being useable, audio engineer Nicholas Bergh made one from original parts to record all of the music for the accompanying film The American Epic Sessions.

Jack White was the executive producer on the documentary series. Speaking about their session, Nas said: “It’s the same as rap music today,” he continued, “They were rapping about street life and gangster life and hustling, just a dark side of the world.
