Jhené Aiko drops surprise album Trip

Jhené Aiko has released a brand new surprise album titled Trip which features Big Sean, Kurupt, Brandy, and more.

The 22-track release marks the singers first solo album since her 2014 debut, Soled Out, and sees a number of guest appearances including her boyfriend Big Sean, Kurupt, Brandy, Swae Lee, Rae Sremmurd, TWENTY88, her father Dr. Chill and her daughter Namiko Love, among others. Speaking to The Breakfast Club about the album, the 29-year-old singer muses: “This year, I just really want to show every side of me, really dive into who I am […] I’m getting older and I feel like I’m more in tune with who I am and less afraid to express every side of myself.

[The album is] inspired by every type of trip you could imagine: mental, physical, even psychedelic. I’m at a point where I put it all in the music. It’s a puzzle I want people to put together.

The new record comes days after the singer released a short film, Trip (The Movie), which she co-directed herself. In the film, she plays a character who falls in love following the death of her brother but things take a dark turn when drugs are introduced and complicate the relationship.
