Frank Ocean has uploaded a cover of the 1961 classic ‘Moon River‘.
In January, Ocean posted a picture on Tumblr of someone wearing a hat which read “if you liked 2017 you’ll love 2018“. This came after a string of festival dates in 2017 and caused much speculation; would he finally be releasing a new album or was this just an innocent New Years post?
Well, regardless of the meaning (or lack thereof) of the post in question, we finally have something new from the singer. Ocean posted a gorgeous cover of ‘Moon River‘, originally sang by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany’s. In true Frank Ocean style, the track came without warning. Relying on nothing more than a simple guitar line, reverb and warm, layered vocals, Ocean makes this 60’s classic into something that could be lifted straight from his 2016 Blonde.
Although this isn’t the new album we’ve all been anticipating, it is certainly enough to keep us waiting.
