Lorna Doom, bassist of cult L.A punk outfit Germs, has died

Lorna Doom, the bassist of Los Angeles punk band Germs, has died.

In a Facebook post, former Germs drummer Don Bolles confirmed the news: “She left this mortal coil today around 1.”

Doom’s cause of death is unknown.

Doom, real name Teresa Ryan, joined the Germs in 1977, joining frontman Darby Crash and guitarist Pat Smear.

The group only released one album together, GI, in 1979.

One year later, frontman Darby Crash committed suicide and the group disbanded.

Despite only putting out one record and a handful of singles, The Germs are widely regarded as a cult group, even featuring heavily in Penelope Spheeris’ 1981 documentary on the Los Angeles punk scene, The Decline of Western Civilization.
