Michael Jackson‘s famous pet chimp, Bubbles, has embracing his creative side.
Now Bubbles has an extensive back catalogue of paintings, he has taken it upon himself to prepare his fine works of art for a special art show in Miami. Apes That Paint will see Jackson’s former pal joining a long list of other talented simians to sell their paintings for a charitable cause. Proceeds from the show will go to benefit The Center for Great Apes in Wauchula, Florida, where Bubbles resided since 2005.
It’s been reported by Miami New Times that Bubbles likes to trace lines in the sand around the border of his enclosure with a big blue bucket to mark his territory. He’s no longer an infant, and at 35-years-old, 4.5-feet-tall, and 185-pounds, he’s now the alpha male.
In addition to the other apes showcasing their work at the exhibit, chimps from Planet of the Apes and a number of TV, film, and circus animals will attend.
Apes That Paint is set to open on 21st July and is hoping to raise $30 million dollars for their cause. The money will go towards helping provide care for The Center for Great Apes’ 61 residents.
