Midwest Soul Xchnage – New American Century

An eclectic duo has hit the Americana genre: Midwest Soul Xchange. Their latest record, New American Century, released November 25th of this year. 11 tracks long, it proves that you can blend Americana with folk music, progressive rock, and even pop music. The sounds have a wide range reminiscent of Kula Shaker, Pink Floyd Crosby Stills & Nash, and Fleet Foxes all the way to Tenacious D, The Beatles, The Decemberists, Queen, and even Michael Jackson. Like I said, their range is wide and vast and frankly marvelous.

So who is this intensely musical duo? Nate Cherrier and Ryan Summers, two fellows from Wisconsin who have been friends for over two decades.
It shows in their music, these two are completely in-sync. Cherrier contributes the percussion and rhythm tracks while Summers works with synthesizers and write the lead guitar compositions. He also acted as the group’s album producer and engineer. Each note of music written was a musical ‘exchange’, hence the duo’s name.
These guys put a lot of heart into their music, and they are a lot of fun to listen to. So give them a go and exchange a little music of your own.
