Panini Boy – ‘Wet Myself’

Panini Boy - Wet Myself

Grand Fromage Productions is proud to introduce to the World (and beyond) their newly acquired talent ‘Panini Boy’, and his latest controversial song ‘Wet Myself’. (“Jizz in My Pants” LOL ……Ok “I just wet myself” – with unconfirmed video cameo appearances from HRH Prince William & David Guetta??)

Paolo Aquilino (aka Panini Boy) was born in 1981 in the small town of Gorizia, Italy, in the region of Fruili Venezia Guilia, located at the foot of the Julian Alps bordering Slovenia. Gifted footballer Panini Boy’s hopes of turning professional and playing for his boyhood heroes AC Milan, were cruelly dashed at the age of 10.
Whilst helping his father, Leonardo, to deliver bread and medical supplies to a nearby town across the border in Slovenia during the war in 1991, tragedy struck. Their van was forced off the road and with his right ankle shattered; Panini Boy was smuggled back across the border by his father.

Despite this huge setback, with the continued love and support of his family (particularly his brother Oscar who had spent previous summers working as a DJ in popular Ibiza clubs such as Manumission, Space and Amnesia) Panini Boy redirected his artistic focus towards music. After a brief stint DJ’ing at select fashion shows (Armani, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Fendi) he soon cut himself a niche in the Milan dance scene in the late nineties.

Panini Boy comes from a well-connected and distinguished Venetian family. On his mother’s side he is a distant relation of award-winning Italian actress, Claudia Cardinale who starred alongside Peter Sellars in Blake Edward’s ‘The Pink Panther’ as well as working with Federico Fellini, Luchino Visconti and Sergio Leone. On his father’s side one of his great-uncles was a close friend of Giacomo Puccini the composer of such standard operatic classics as Tosca, Turandot and Madame Butterfly. Another served as an assistant to renowned Italian Physicist Enrico Fermi, a colleague of Albert Einstein.

‘Wet Myself’ is Panini Boy’s first collaboration with Grand Fromage Productions (GFP).

“I consider it a hedonistic tribute to everyone’s lost ‘summer of love’. The title is a reference to a throwaway remark made by my friend Marilyn whilst hung-over and watching Brad Pitt in “Thelma and Louise”…. I enjoyed the incongruity of it….. It speaks in the language of humour, but also in the syntax of sex and desire,” says Panini Boy.

Often asked about his unusual appearance Panini Boy is happy to defer to fellow musician and GFP stablemate Zazu Picasso:

“Zazu is the only genius I know and he referred me to a quote by Pablo Picasso.” says Panini Poy, and continues
“It isn’t up to the painter to define the symbols. Otherwise it would be better if he wrote them out in so many words! The public who look at the picture must interpret the symbols as they understand them.”

“And so it is with music. It is very strange to me how people interpret my image and add their own baggage to it. Some say I am refusing to grow up, others imply I have a Benjamin Button Syndrome. One Superstar DJ I know even suggested I was not properly potty-trained as a child!”

“Let me say this and this alone: before a child has developed there are many ideas from family, teachers, and friends about how that child should grow and what it should become. To me this is an imposition and an intrusion. So in a way a young child is a blank canvas upon which adults project their own wishes and desires. …and so I choose to intervene at this stage and say enough!! I am like Franco Baresi – the last line of the defence in the child’s struggle to prevent the opposition from scoring a goal against its own identity…”

Panini Boy lives in Paris with his cats Maldini and Beckham.

Panini Boy’s musical influences include Giorgio Moroder, Lemaitre, Justice, Simian Mobile Disco, Fatboy Slim, Empire Of The Sun, Kavinsky, Deadmau5, The Chemical Brothers, Avicii, Daft Punk, Thomas Gold, Tiesto, Zedd, Skrillex, Inna, Benny Benassi, Bloody Beetroots, Crookers, David Guetta, Nicky Romero, Carl Cox, Flux Pavillion, Alvin Risk.
