So, after the phenomenal and quite incredible success of my Christmas Single ‘Christmas Robot’ (still available from all good iTunes shops), I decided to get away from it all. You know, all that hype and ‘celebrity’ surrounding me, I was in fear of becoming too famous – and I’ve never been in it for that. I mean, I couldn’t even go to the shops without people pointing at me. I had to get away for a while, but now … I’m back!
I went travelling; I travelled far and wide, across foreign land and sea, living off what I could catch or forage or buy. The red-hot sun would beam down on my shiny metal head – ‘soul searching’, some might say…until…I had my Eureka moment. An epiphany…
You know me, I write my music from my heart. People engage with that. Some even say that I can only be compared to Dylan, or The Beatles. I don’t know. I think that’s a bit far. I mean, they were really big and I’m big, but probably not as big as them. Maybe though. I guess it depends who you ask. Most people, maybe would say that – yeah.
Anyway, I’m losing my point. The point is… I realized that people really love me for who I am, not for who the media made me out to be. I figured that the notoriously difficult ‘second single’ should be written and produced solely by me. I mean, it was difficult to tell Mike Stock that I didn’t need him, but he isn’t stupid, I know that he knew it was coming. I was, for want of a better word, too good for him. I needed to tread my own path, go in my own direction, be my own me. I did, however, let him stick around the studio while I was in the zone…making teas and things.
So here it is… the result of my labour, my Sixteen Chapel… my gift, to you… please accept.
