Soft Machine founding member Robert Wyatt has collaborated with London-based film composer Gerald Clark for this beautifully lugubrious jazz single ‘Ibrahim’.
The single is the title track from Clark’s new EP Ibrahim, which centres around themes of ‘being caught between the old world and the new, feeling a loyalty to the traditions of the past, but unable to fully embrace the value system of the present’.
This theme is perfectly encapsulated by Wyatt’s longing vocals and the slow drifting instrumentation provided by Clark.
