Rock ‘n’ Roll pioneer Chuck Berry has passed away in St Charles County.
The county police department confirmed that the musician had died on Saturday afternoon. In a statement they said:
“St Charles County police responded to a medical emergency on Buckner Road at approximately 12:40 p.m. today (Saturday, March 18).
Inside the home, first responders observed an unresponsive man and immediately administered lifesaving techniques. Unfortunately, the 90-year-old man could not be revived and was pronounced deceased at 1:26 p.m.
The St Charles County Police Department sadly confirms the death of Charles Edward Anderson Berry Sr., better known as legendary musician Chuck Berry.
The family requests privacy during this time of bereavement.”
Berry had a career spanning seven decades, which has included hits such as ‘Roll Over Beethoven‘ and ‘Johnny B Goode‘ and has inspired many musicians such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Beach Boys.
At the 1986 Grammys, he was awarded a lifetime achievement award. Following this, Berry was one of the first inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.
On his 90th birthday in October, Berry announced that he would be releasing new music. The musician had recorded the music in St Charles County with his backing group, which includes his children.
No statement has been released from his family at this time.
