Spinal Tap’s Derek Smalls teams with Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers members for new album

Spinal Tap character Derek Smalls has announced a collaboration album featuring members of the Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more.

The new album is called Smalls Change (Meditations Upon Ageing) and will be released via Twanky Records/BMG on 13th April.

Smalls Change (Meditations Upon Ageing) serves as the debut solo LP from The SimpsonsHarry Shearer-portrayed character and will feature Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Steely Dan’s Donald Fagen, Peter Frampton, former Yes member Rick WakemanDavid Crosby and others.

The new record has been described as “halfway between ‘rage against the dying light’ and trying to find the light.” Derek Smalls, the Spinal Tap bassist, was played by Shearer in the 1984 rockumentary, This Is Spinal Tap.
