Stevie wonder sings Michelle farewell

Michelle Obama’s final appearance as First Lady was bestowed with a spectacular treat yesterday, when her favourite musician of all time, Stevie Wonder, showed up to bid her a fond farewell.

The living legend appeared on The Tonight Show to sing Isn’t She Lovely and My Cherie Amour, changing the words to be about Michelle: “My Michelle amour / lovely as a summer day / my Michelle amour / sweet as flowers bloom in May / my Michelle amour / you’re the only one that we adore.”

Following the performance, Wonder joined Obama and host Jimmy Fallon on the couch, singing: “I’m holding the First Lady’s hand, don’t tell the President but I’m holding the First Lady’s hand”.

Mrs Obama revealed on the show that she met her husband through a shared love of Wonder’s music, saying: “That was prerequisite. He had to be able to play ball and he had to like Stevie Wonder.”
